THIS SPRING at the Chesapeake Center for Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery, springtime brings warmer weather (finally!), flowers in bloom, resumption of outdoor activities and…… shorts and skirts. If you’ve feared others seeing spider veins on your legs, you’ll want to know what we can do to help you overcome the embarrassment. Dr. Tad Grenga, a Board Certified plastic surgeon practicing in Hampton Roads since 1987, conducts spider vein treatment at our office. He has helped hundreds of individuals who, like yourself, wanted to be in public, but without ugly spider veins showing. At the first consultation, he will assess the locations and extent of your undesired veins. He’ll help you to create a spider vein treatment plan to address the unsightly vessels that keep you from showing off your legs in public. The most common form of spider vein treatment consists of injection of a salt solution that causes the veins to shut down. Don’t worry– the material is injected with the SMALLEST of needles, so the amount of discomfort is usually minimized. In a matter of days to weeks, the body absorbs the clotted spider veins. Once this occurs, visibility of the former spider veins is usually significantly decreased or they are simply disappeared.
MOST spider vein treatment sessions last between 30 and 45 minutes. You can expect some form of elastic wrap to compress the freshly treated veins. Or, Dr. Grenga might advise compression hosiery. A follow-up visit is scheduled so that he can assess the results of your spider vein treatment. There are occasions when another session might be advised to treat any lingering veins.
THE Chesapeake Center for Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery offers two convenient locations for spider vein treatment.
