One of the most frequent issues that women face is the physical changes of the breast after child bearing, breast feeding, weight loss or a combination of these things. Breast droop, also known as ptosis, is the result of too much skin for the amount of breast tissue along with stretching of the internal support structures known as Cooper’s ligaments. Among the questions that Dr. Grenga will address during consultation are “Do I need breast implants?”, “Will a breast lift alone suffice?” and “Can I expect my breasts to look more youthful again?”. A breast lift is likely to solve the problems that are reflected by these questions.
A physical examination should allow Dr. Grenga to help you to determine just what will be necessary in your breast lift to restore a more perky position of the breasts and to calculate how much added volume, if any, is needed to fill out the breast shape. To help measure for which size breast implant is desirable to supplement your breast lift, Dr. Grenga has developed a three dimensional sizing method to allow you to clearly see what breast dimension you can expect with breast lift and implant surgery (click here to learn more about this sizing method).
Surgery for breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is typically performed as an outpatient– you won’t need to go to a hospital nor will you need to stay overnight. Your breast lift operation involves the use of incisions on the breasts that allow simultaneous removal of redundant skin, tucking up the slack breast tissue and the insertion of an appropriately sized breast implant if more volume is desired.
